Dreamport ‘Dangers in the Dream Valley’ Rapid Prototyping Event

Rapid pace is a ubiquitous term when thinking of the breakneck speed of technology innovation and the cybersecurity landscape which threatens and challenges all organizations utilizing technology. At VMware, our customers are working to solve cybersecurity problems, and that led us to develop the VMware Cyber Range Solution.

The solution is a turnkey design that brings elements of hardware, content, applications, and services – and of course, the VMware Software-Defined Data Center and other products in the VMware portfolio. To bring value to elements beyond the VMware portfolio we have established exciting partnerships, as with World Wide Technology’s contributions to the Solution.

In launching the Cyber Range Solution, VMware has partnered with DreamPort to deliver the Cyber Range Solution to support their Rapid Prototyping Event (RPE) cyber exercises. This spring DreamPort will host their ‘Dangers in the Dream Valley’ RPE. In this exercise, participants will be split into Red Teams and Blue Teams and will either attack or defend a scale model of an entire city and its critical services.

Preceding the larger scale event, DreamPort is going to host an RPE to establish a baseline. This February 25th event is an opportunity to participate, experience the hands-on elements of the Cyber Range Solution, and present expertise, findings, and feedback for upcoming iterations of the RPE.

VMware and WWT have worked with DreamPort to deploy the Range’s components and platform; most importantly designing an automated infrastructure-as-code deployment capability paired with the flexibility and features of: software-defined networking, dynamic operations, and enterprise integration with elements of infrastructure, 3rd party software, and most notably the Dream Valley city; an impressive Industry Control Systems based model featuring aspects of the daily encounters and touchpoints we each experience with technology in our daily lives.
