Welcome to the fast and ever-changing world of retail, where digital transformation is a priority on every customer’s agenda. Retail has experienced a seismic shift over the last few years and the intense focus is easy to understand given the challenges. Emerging technologies and ecommerce capabilities, coupled with manufacturing and distribution optimization, are all driving significant changes in today’s highly competitive market. The world has gone through an unprecedented time, and retailers are fighting hard for competitive advantage while consumers expect and demanding amazing experiences. All this while work environments have been completely disrupted.

Recent global conditions have accelerated the retailer’s journey to the direct-to-consumer model. Traditional brick-and-mortar experiences have been transformed to include online, curbside, and home delivery channels overnight. Retailers are calling this challenge “Last Mile.” According to a recent Forrester study, 83 percent of retail executives believe that improving their app portfolios would enhance their customer experience—and in turn, increase overall revenues. As retailers pivot to address new market realities, focusing on the consumer and employee experience will continue to be critical to success.
